the winds of change and/or experience

Waited a good while in the whistling wind for Hillary Clinton to come visit... and her plane could not land because of the weather. Mucho disappointing. And unfortunately I can't see Obama tomorrow because of a work obligation. Anyway, I did get a voice mail from Bill this morning... and since work has no power, we're canceled until further notice. I did have to get out this morning though, to transport a client, but that wasn't a big dramatic deal. I know when I go in I'll have tons of voice mails, though. I am super lucky too, b/c the radio station near where I live not only does not have power, but is w/o internet or phone! man that would suck. Anyway, I plan on spending my time off baking and doing holiday-themed things, as well as catching up on 'chores' and things I keep putting off, like mailing some things and getting this book for my class in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, which I am super pumped about. Duncan is also glad I'm home, because he keeps sitting up to lick my hand while I type. Hehe!
Best,
Meredith

shitty poetry #1

I went for melodrama, cause
it had chilled too long.
crystal structure took the place
of fluid DISGRACE

triangles are the strongest shape
and it's too late to ride it out
bit torrent, explode

Work

So, this week I am making posole. It's been a busy one at work, with quite a few amusing client encounters and some very serious close-calls. I have enjoyed it though, and plan to take some time off shortly. Emailed with Nithya about president's day. It is kindof a pain that I can't take off work w/o about a months' notice because I get booked with client appointments. Sometimes they can be changed but lots of times they can't because they're coming to see the doctor that day or I only see them three months or something like that.
I have been really bored with no-one down here to play with other than my parents, and as a result I believe I have been eating too much. Like, more than the usual too much. Which means I've gained some weight. Not like my clothes don't fit or anything, but I've noticed and it takes something for me to notice. Have not had luck with reducing so far, aka haven't gotten as far as trying. Not really my top priority at this point.
I have been SUPER exited about it getting light later... six o'clock is the new five o'clock, in dusk terms. I really like not having to drive home in the dark like every day. That sucked. Now I've only done that if I'm working late on paperwork or something, which is not often.
I am getting sick of the cold though. I have a new method for de-icing my vehicle. I run hot water in the dishpan, I fill up 2 empty milk jugs to dump on my windshield and windows, alternating them. I'll lay the unused one on it's side in the pan so it refills while I'm dumping. Genius? I think yes.
Forget super-bowl... how about a Super Tuesday Party? Yes, I am going to have one, and no, I have no idea what I'm going to do for it. A lazy saturday would probably be a good time to figure this out. Oh! OK, red and blue foods. Old fourth of July plates and stuff... hmmm. something with a 'delegate' related name. Ballot sandwiches or something. Sinister attack-add punch. Haha, with an illigitimate-child-shaped ice block to keep it cool. OK, one of those pull-apart cupcake things, with 50 of them, in the shape of the US, and they could be iced according to which way they went in the last election!
OK that may be overkill. But still, I'm staying up late and enjoying myself. Probably with drastically marked-down leftover superbowl items.
